This morning I experienced The Holy One

I began this post in the Church of Thea discussion Forum:  Thean Church Discussion

Being very gnostic in my approach, I tend to look for the Truth in the Myth and the Myth in the Truth of Spiritual things. On a weekly basis I tend to deconstruct the message/preaching/teaching from the pulpit. I can related the "Truth of the Word of God" to the Many ancient Mythoi that were prevalent in the ages of Abraham, Yosef, Moshe, and David. As well as those of the times of Y'shua, Shimone-Cephas, Shaul of Tarsus.  Often there are times that I hear the gentle thunder of the Divine Voice of the Holy One through the Mythoi and thee Pulpit or Bible. The Voice of silence and stillness. The voice of a great roar and active creation.

I think I was rambling.

The Holy One is with-in. The Holy One surrounds.

Shema Ysrael Adonai Elyhanu Adonia Echad! Deut. 6:4

I was just completely comforted by this understanding.

The God-head issue, Trinities, Quadrinities, Pantheons, Co-creators, etc...

My experience and study over the soon to be four decades of life, has allowed me to witness various ideas and understandings of the god/goddess relationship and interaction with humankind.

I grew up in a mainline protestant christian church. We were Baptists. There was this guy named Jesus risen from the dead. The same guy my Grandpa prayed to; he also called out to with cusses each time he smashed his thumb with a hammer. Somehow this Christ guy we are thankful to for the Turkey, Potatoes, and pumpkin pie at Holiday Dinners is the same one we blame for smashing our thumbs with hammers. Also, this living Jesus has a Father whom I am to address as Holy Father. I am to understand that the Roman Catholics have a Holy Father too, but we are not to associate with them, because Our Father in Heaven has another family that prays to the mother of this guy Jesus. Somehow that is evil and against this guy Jesus. Oh and those Catholics do not use enough water when baptizing. Not to mention that they baptize babies. I'd use less water too.

Sorry, rambling.

Anyway, I found out that there is also the Holy Ghost, "BOO, with Blessings!" Some say Holy Spirit. I guess Spirit is preferred nowadays because Ghost references the dead and Spirit is alive. So there is this guy Jesus, an all around good guy and teacher who just wanted everyone to get along, so they killed him. Then there is his Father in heaven, (which I understand the older one is wearing the young one's shirt so he can get some teenaged girl pregnant, or something), and the almost always forgotten about Holy Spirit. Someway all three of these people are the same dude. [Can we say "multiple personality disorder", hey it could apply to god just as much as jealousy does.]

Yet, I am still confused. What became of this guy Jesus mother that if I pray to her I am a blasphemer and evil? Oh doesn't he also have some evil twin brother with a much more awesome name, Luci...Luke...something like that. (A later topic.)

Then comes the witches.  So these chicks, when I was a randy teenaged boy, would hang around had shown me somethings more than what lies beneath their netherworlds. No, I am just teasing you. They were exploring the realms of Magick. Magic cool, I am a big fan of David Copperfield. With-in a few weeks I was also a big fan of Scott Cunningham too. Along with my friend, Seth, the group of us formed a circle. We learned together about the Maid, the Mother and the Crone and like that guy Jesus, his Father, and that Ghost, these ladies are all the same chick! Hah, who, knew.

~~Wait!, is this the Mother of that guy Jesus?? The ones the Catholics prayed too? "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!" What the heck! does anyone like this guy Jesus and his mother? They slabbed both of them to stakes and put them to death in the name God Almighty! Wait Jesus' Father was abusive! Jesus was beaten and hung out like an old shirt to dry, and his mother and most who honored her were burnt at the stake.

Gnosticism, what is this? Oh now there are two gods, hold on more than two. Let me read some more. Oh the god the killed this guy Jesus and His mother, is not Jesus' Father. Oh he is a jealous despicable being. Blinded by his own arrogance, envy, and pride. Jesus from his Father of pure Light, Along with Our Mother of our souls, his hated by the god of this world. This why he killed them, while at least tried.

The Mother-Father of All, those from before, from the One. Those whom we all come, those to whom we all shall return. Whether we call them Lord and Lady, Theos and Thea, Father and Mother or Cristos and Sophia,
These are the ones whom have guided us to come here. to join us together to create in their Name this Third Millennium Church. We are Theans.

When it comes to the doctrine of the God-head, whether we come from Father-Son-Holy Spirit, or Maid-Mother-Crone or Frog-Goat-Mushroom, it really does not matter.(Matter, BAD!). We are coming to be Theans, of Mother-Father along with Son-Daughter but mostly we are honoring the One from whom all blessings come.

Scripturally I was going to suggest the concept of the Elohim. +Bishop Katia has a wonderful slide presentation about the wife f God, on the northernway website. (see links page.)  In it it describes the Elohim in Genesis as a male-female dual god planing to make mankind in both male and female in their image. The word translated into English for Elohim is god. Elohim in Hebrew is a word that has dual properties alike our word everyone. It is singular in usage and understanding yet it implies a group or multiple persons in concert. Therefore the Elohim is god, but more like gods together. most likely a god and goddess a mother father god, co-creators. Some have suggested that there are 7 in the Elohim, and Christians say it is the triune god F-S-HG. Regardless the number of the persons in the Elohim, As a point of doctrine in the Thean Church, we could say we accept the Elohim, creators of heaven and earth and all things seen and unseen. Thus we cover the trinty/quadrinity, or just the duality of Mother-Father, the Elohim.

I have heard the gentle voice of God on the wind. He would call to me and sometimes I would hear him other times I would not have noticed. When I had listened I would be stirred inside of myself with a pondering that would burn at my soul for days. So I would ask the persons of authority about God, Church, and Spirituality, namely my Grandparents and our Pastor.

My questions would be simple, childlike, and ordinary. "Who is God?" "What is sin?" "Does God celebrate Christmas?" "Why is water wet?" The answers to these simpler questions rolled so easily off their tongues one could summarize that these were well rehearsed. Yet to the adult, they have answered them often.

My Grandparents and the Pastor would answer me naturally as one would a child."God is the one who made the whole world and who made you and me. He loves us very much." "Sin is when you do bad things and misbehave, these things hurt God.""Yes, Christmas was his idea. He planed the very first Christmas himself.""God made water as a liquid so that is why it feels wet on your skin." (Of course science answered this one more fully than that.) For a child these would be answers that would possibly rule my understanding of God for the rest of my life. I am not alone there. As long as I can accept these childlike replies and never ask other question, then I would continue to be in the sheep pen facing forward to my eventual award of Heaven.

Over three decades I have been in search of the Truth behind the god I was told I am to believe in. I started in a mainline protestant denomination as a young boy attending church with my grandparents. I was told that I am to believe in God, everything else was a counterfeit creation of the devil. Yet I was taught that God was the eternal creator and the devil was the eternal destroyer. So I listened to what else they had told me and sought out God's Truth through prayer and searching the scriptures.

My journey is along a path that has at times been straight and narrow at others twists, turns and mountains have slowed my trek. Occasionally the path would split and become two or three sometimes many. This is my story of a road less traveled. This is my journey as it merely begins. Only does God know when I shall come to its end. Yet, does it ever actually end?

I have been a Protestant Evangelical Christian, a Wicca Priest, a Crowley Gnostic, an Occultist, a Greek Catholic, a Pentecostal Christian, a Polytheist, and today I would say that I am a Gnostic Christian and a Thean. (Church of Thea)

So come with me as I lay out the trek that has lead me to the understanding that there is more than one god. That god is both Father whom provides and Mother whom nourishes.

In peace.
